Deliveroo is a global food delivery company connecting millions of consumers with thousands of local businesses in over 800 locations across 10 countries.

We’re solving some of the world’s most challenging technical and logistics problems, designing and building systems that connect customers, merchants and riders millions of times a day.

Our India Engineering Centre in Hyderabad, which launched in early 2022, provides opportunities for Engineers to tackle some of these problems. We innovate in an exciting environment, bringing together experience and expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset.

This Analytics Engineering event will aim to showcase some of the exciting technical work completed by our team, give an insight into the day-to-day of an Analytics Engineer, and provide an opportunity to network with some of the data and analytics community.

Speakers

James Ferguson

James is an Analytics Engineering Manager for the Consumer team, who support all the product teams in Deliveroo that build consumer-facing apps or offerings. He joined Deliveroo in December 2021, originally as a Product Manager, but moved to be an Analytics Engineering Manager in October 2022. Before Deliveroo, James was the Product Manager and Team Lead for the Marks & Spencer Data Platforms team, looking after all their analytics, reporting, and machine learning infrastructure.

James will be delivering the keynote speech, providing an intro to Deliveroo and the Analytics Engineering function.

David Elliott

David is a Senior Staff Data Platform Engineer on the Analytics Platform team and has been with Deliveroo for 7.5 years, where he started as a BI Analyst. After numerous data roles and a stint as an Analytics Manager, David switched to Engineering and helped to create and scale the Analytics Engineering function to over 50 people. He enjoys building large-scale data solutions that "just work", with a particular focus on ensuring the end-user experience is as seamless as possible.

David will be discussing how Deliveroo has scaled their analytical data estate with Snowflake.

Unnati Jaiswal

Unnati joined Deliveroo in June 2023 and is an Analytics Engineer in the Consumer team. Her role in this team revolves around Deliveroo's Marketer Offers, playing an important role in orchestrating a wide range of promotions, all designed to cater to the specific preferences of Deliveroo's partners. Unnati brings a wealth of experience to her current role, having previously worked with organizations such as Cult.fit, Byju's, KPMG, and Accenture.

Unnati will be a member of the Q&A panel, sharing her experience at Deliveroo and answering audience questions.

Aman Yadav

Aman is a Senior Analytics Engineer in the Ads team, who provide restaurant partners with the capability to advertise on Deliveroo’s web and mobile-based apps via a pay-per-click system, allowing them to attract new customers. Before Deliveroo, Aman spent 4 years in various Data Analytics positions at Uber, collaborating with teams in customer care, fraud and HR.

Aman will be discussing the importance of data hygiene and how to address data quality head on.

Danny Jones

Danny is a Senior Platform Engineer on the Analytics Platform Team. His main focuses have been performance tuning across the data estate, and the design and implementation of developer tooling and modelling principles for our analytics monolith. He’s also a key contributor to the SQLFluff opensource project, working on dialect coverage and parser performance.

Danny will be talking about the modelling approach Deliveroo uses for its data monolith and why we use bespoke in-house toolings rather than popular opensource offerings like dbt/ SQLMesh.

Aditi Prakash

Aditi has been an Analytics Engineer in the Care & Trust team since May 2023, where her main focus is to optimise existing data pipelines and implement new data models for upcoming and ongoing customer care projects such as policy engines. She started her engineering career 8 years ago and has handled data visualisation, analytics and ETL responsibilities across the healthcare and aviation manufacturing industries.

Aditi will be a member of the Q&A panel, sharing her experience at Deliveroo and answering audience questions.

Darshan Aralappa

Darshan joined Deliveroo in April 2023 and is an Analytics Engineer in the Trust team, who protect Deliveroo from fraud and abuse across all three sides of the marketplace (consumers, restaurant/partners, riders). Before Deliveroo, Darshan spent 8 years in various data-related positions at Amazon, collaborating with teams in finance, marketing, product development, and platform management.

Darshan will be a member of the Q&A panel, sharing his experience at Deliveroo and answering audience questions.

Dillon Patel

Dillon joined Deliveroo as a Technical Recruiter in February 2021 and manages recruitment for the Analytics Engineering function. In just over two years, he has helped treble the size of the team by hiring managers and individual contributors in the UK and India and has helped build our India team since its inception.

Dillon will be hosting the Q&A session, asking some of our Engineers a series of curated questions about their experience at Deliveroo and asking questions put forward by the audience.
